Alice in Wonderland Blog Hop and
A Give-Away!

Off with her head!

"I'm late! I'm late!
For a very important date!
No time to say hello, goodbye!
I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!"

Today is the blog hop for Alice in Wonderland hosted by
Stacie Louise. I didn't complete my piece in time to get in on the hop, but wanted to show you what I came up with anyway!

The challenge was to create a piece of jewelry inspired by
Alice in Wonderland. It's a wonderfully imaginative story that offers lots in the way of inspiration!  An additional requirement was that
at least 50% of the piece had to be handmade.

As I was pounding some well worn silverware into garden markers for the upcoming Vintage Bazaar I noticed a few pieces with a great rose pattern and decided that I would choose the Queen of Hearts!

I used the spoon on the right to create a toggle. The bar is cut from the stem of the same spoon into a scepter and arrow. Messy work, but well worth the effort. I think it came out great!

Hand-cut toggle clasp.

I made the "looking glass" pendant from a vintage opticians lens and enclosed the Queen of Hearts with a hand-cut shortbread tin bezel.

The chain is made with pressed Czech glass, freshwater pearls, black and burgundy Mill Hill seed beads and gunmetal chain.

Now for the Give-away!

If you'd like a chance to win one of my "looking glass" pendants
leave a comment to let me know. One winner will be chosen via randomizer.org and will be announced next Saturday, June 16th!

The winner will receive one Alice in Wonderland inspired looking glass pendant. I'll post the choices later this week.

If you post, tweet, etc. about the contest leave another comment for another chance to win! International readers are welcome too!

Here's a list of the artists that weren't late for this very important date!

That toggle is AMAZING! It's really creative to begin with, and it's also beautiful. The necklace itself is purely a work of art. I love the Czech glass, the chain, the pendent, and how you faced the back of the pendent. I agree with Jenna, I love everything about this piece! I am just dieing to win your pendent if it's half as nice as this one! I am so sorry you didn't make it in time for the hop! --Diane V. {cambriaz"at"roadrunner"dot"com}

This is my second entry because I posted the blog hop on my own blog, even though I did not participate. I just wanted to promote the hop. =) {cambriaz"at"roadrunner"dot"com}
